ABOUT US

The Home Builders Association of Raleigh-Wake County formed a Remodelers Council in 1993 with two primary functions: to provide educational programs to help improve the professionalism among the Remodeling contractors in the industry; and to provide information to the general public on how to select a Remodeling contractor. Membership was opened to those remodelers and associates who met certain standards of financial responsibility, technical competence and had a record of fair dealings with the public.

In the first years, Council members were guests on monthly call-in radio talk shows on 680 WPTF on the topic of Remodeling and renovations. The Council also gave seminars to the public of various types of Remodeling topics.

Today, the Council has grown to be the 4th largest of its kind in the country and is affiliated with the National Association of Home Builders National Remodelers Council, the North Carolina Home Builders Association, and represents and promotes the Remodeling industry in order to benefit and service its members and the community.  Every year, the council chooses a Community Service project connected in some way to the homebuilding industry to give back to the Raleigh/Wake County area.

The Council has done much to promote ethical and professional standards in the industry and provide members with opportunities for individual recognition through programs like the Remodelers Showcase Awards, Award of Excellence Program, the Showcasing Triangle Achievements in Remodeling (STAR) Awards and the Remodelers Home Tour. Members are encouraged to earn professional designations, such as Certified Graduate Remodeler (CGR) and Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS).

The Remodelers Home Tour presents examples of how renovations can transform living space—blending old and new for the optimum in aesthetics and function. With projects in various price ranges, the Tour has been the perfect source for anyone planning to remodel, now or in the future, or for seeing the newest trends in the building industry (architecture and interior design).
